The Future of Travel: What to Expect When Planning Your Next Big Trip

You’ve likely read blogs and articles that say something like “travel as we know it is over,” but here at Tripp, we know one thing to be true — people LOVE to travel and this virus isn’t going to stop us from exploring the world. While we think the travel industry will quickly bounce back, it’s true that things will be different for some time.

So we want to give you some thoughts, tips, and tricks so you know what to expect as you plan your next big trip!

1. Your travel dreams might be more possible than ever

One silver lining of this virus is that more companies are beginning to see the logistical benefits of allowing their employees to work remotely. Twitter even recently announced that all of its employees will be able to work from home whenever they want, even after the virus is long gone. With more companies following in their footsteps, your travel dreams are about to become more possible than ever before! With this, you’ll now need to decide whether or not you’ll take a trip using time off or attempt to live the life of a digital nomad — working during the day and exploring at night!

2. Expect to wear passenger PPE

While flights will likely continue to implement social distancing on planes, it’s likely that you’ll be required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) while in the airport and on planes. This might include masks, gloves, and the use of sanitation and cleaning products at your seat. It’s important to note that all airlines will likely have different requirements when it comes to PPE, so be sure to read up and be ready to comply!

3. Local travel and staycations

Staycations are finally having their fifteen minutes of fame! With the potential for more travel restrictions and quarantine, it might be worth sticking to local travel for the time being. If you’re hoping to travel but are in the highrisk category for COVID-19, staycations are also a great option as you’ll have more control over your travel experience and accommodations. Planning a big trip usually comes with some stress, but with COVID-19 added to the mix, there’s likely to be a whole new level of worry and work that goes into planning your dream trip. From picking the right flights to avoid virus hotspots to planning activities that are COVID friendly, there’s so much to consider when panning vacation these days! 5. Be flexible and be prepared for everything

If we know one thing about COVID-19 it’s that things could change in a moment and flexibility is key. When planning to travel during this time, it’s important to remember that no location is immune to an outbreak. If there happens to be an outbreak before your travels, there’s a large chance your flight will be canceled. In order to ensure you’ll receive your money back, we suggest paying for trip insurance or booking through an airline that has a flexible cancellation policy, like Southwest. With all travel right now, it’s good to remember to remain calm and commit to being flexible.
